Fine Point Technologies to Provide the NAVAIR Weapons Division With Repair Application Management System
New York, NY, December 16, 2003- Fine Point Technologies, Inc., a leading Internet subscriber management solutions provider, today announced that the NAVAIR Weapons Division of the United States Navy will use Fine Point's Direct Messenger™ and Direct Update™ applications to manage software repair on its internal network.
Direct Messenger™ is a communication technology that enables an administrator to send messages straight to the desktop of those computers on the network. The receiving computer "pulls" the message in at established intervals, placing the message right on the user's screen. These messages bypass email, making this application ideal for communicating in situations where email may not properly function or may be ignored. Direct Update™ represents an extended functionality of Direct Messenger™ by enabling the administrator to send software directly to the desktop.
Prompted by numerous challenges that affect networking systems, the Navy began to search for an efficient repair system. NAVAIR Weapons Division's representative Dave Moore noted, "It is crucial to keep our internal systems up and running and protected from various Internet viruses and worms. We are confident that Fine Point's products will be the ideal supplement to our network to ensure the consistency and operability that we need to ensure the safety of our warfighters."
John O'Keefe, CEO of Fine Point Technologies, remarked, "Working with the Navy is a great opportunity for Fine Point. Due to the sensitive nature of NAVAIR's data, Direct Messenger™ underwent extensive security requirements and tests. This is exactly the type of scenario for which our CyberSolutions were designed; securely managing, protecting and upgrading large networks of Internet users."
Unlike similar applications, Direct Messenger™ and Direct Update™ applications remain "closed" when not pulling down messages and software, securing the port from virus and hackers.
