The QA Manager will be responsible for leading the QA team in flawlessly executing our major releases. You must have a proven track record of success building and managing a technical QA team. This is a hands-on job that requires strategic thinking and planning to provide leadership and expertise throughout the entire QA lifecycle, ensuring the success of your and your team's manual and automation efforts. You will work with a team of demanding, highly motivated QA engineers and developers and will be expected to both challenge and be challenged.
In order to effectively manage your team, you will have a solid background using object oriented methodologies to design, implement and maintain complex suites of Java testcases across multiple codelines, preferably in the web services environment.
Responsibilities
- This position requires healthy doses of initiative and the ability to remain flexible and responsive in a very dynamic environment.
- Triaging bug escalations from customer support, and working closely with them to resolve issues.
- Making go/no-go recommendations and decisions for beta and GA launchs of each client-side application and each version.
- Assisting your team in the development of all testing-related documentation, including test plans, test cases/scripts, and bug reports assessing quality and associated risk
- Final Approval Authority - The Quality Assurance/Testing Manager has final say and approval on all releasable and deliverable products to customers. It is the Quality Assurance/Testing Manager that takes ultimate responsibility for the quality of the company's products.
- Q/A Executive Reports - Runs progress reports for all projects and ensures that the data in the database are accurate
- Quality Assurance Engineer Training - Provides Quality Assurance Engineers with ongoing technical, Q/A, and application training
- Manages Personnel - activities of staff (i.e., hires, trains, appraises, rewards, motivates, disciplines, recommends termination as necessary, etc.)
- Improves Q/A Process - Researches and implements new documentation and testing methods and tools in order to maximize operations efficiency. Researches and implements new and improved testing methods, processes, tools and tests systems.
Required Skills/Experience
- 6+ years experience in SQA, both black and white box
- Minimum of 4+ years experience with using OO methodologies.
- Minimum of 2 years web services testing experience
- Experience in implementing complex functional tests that require an understanding of the application logic.
- 5+ years of QA management experience.
- Must be technical and hands-on while providing solid management and leadership to reports.
- Strong QA methodology, process, and technical leadership.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to prioritize on the fly.
- Responsible, reliable, accessible, and responsive.
- Agile, proactive, knows how to work with ambiguous specifications.
- Know and care about what the customer wants from our service -- and willing to stand up for it!
- Experience in short release cycles, the full software lifecycle, and have worked on a product that was actually released for public consumption.
- Bachelor's Degree. A BS in CS or EE preferred.
