FINE POINT TECHNOLOGIES AND WESTELL TECHNOLOGIES DELIVER NEW TR-069 CPE MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY

NEW YORK, NY and AURORA, IL, OCTOBER 19, 2005 – Fine Point Technologies, a leader in broadband support automation solutions, and Westell Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:  WSTL), a leading provider of broadband access products, home networking gateways and conferencing services, announced today an alliance that will enable DSL service providers to better manage and diagnose their subscribers’ broadband modems.
Fine Point Technologies’ support automation software diagnoses broadband connectivity issues and empowers subscribers to automatically fix problems with their broadband connection without ever picking up the phone. By automating support service processes and solving common support issues, Fine Point Technologies’ support automation solutions reduce the number and length of support calls to install and support broadband subscribers.

Now with the addition of TR-069 – compliant broadband devices from Westell, DSL service providers will be able to remotely configure and manage their subscribers’ modems and gateways. Integration between Fine Point Technologies’ and Westell’s TR-069 devices will allow DSL providers to automatically extract diagnostic information from the modems as part of Fine Point Technologies’ Help Desk Support Interface (HDSI). With this information, support organizations can identify and solve subscriber connectivity problems more efficiently.

For both companies, this alliance adds to the list of existing relationships that expand the modem, gateway and management software options for service providers seeking to implement an end-to-end management solution.

“As service providers scramble to grab market share in the digital home arena, Fine Point Technologies and Westell can deliver a turnkey solution that enables them to better manage their subscribers,” said John O’Keefe, Fine Point Technologies CEO. “Our integrated TR-069 solution will not only reduce support costs, but also deliver subscriber experience superior to any previously available support automation technology.”

“Fine Point Technologies has demonstrated their commitment to working with Westell to deliver a fully integrated solution to our service provider customers,” said Gordon Reichard Jr., Westell Vice President of Marketing. “We look forward demonstrating the power of ourTR-069 – enabled modems and gateways, and the improvements that our newly announced partnership will bring to the deployment of digital home services,” Reichard added.
