FINE POINT TECHNOLOGIES POISED WITH TR-069 AS DSL FORUM ANNOUNCES 115 MILLION DSL CONNECTIONS WORLDWIDE
NEW YORK, NY, September 26, 2005 – Just as the DSL Forum announced that in the first six months of 2005, another 24.5 million homes and businesses around the world moved to broadband, Fine Point Technologies has released solutions built on DSL Forum TR-069 that have positioned the company to best service this market growth.
According to the latest data produced for the DSL Forum by industry analyst Point Topic, by June 2005, there were 115 million broadband DSL connections worldwide, accounting for almost three -quarters of total broadband growth this year. In order to help reduce the costs of supporting these millions of subscribers, carriers are looking to technologies such as the DSL Forum’s TR-069, a modem management standard that links the customer service help desk to the customer premises equipment. Using TR-069, the carrier’s network communicates with these DSL gateways, thereby enabling carriers to remotely configure, troubleshoot or upgrade the device.
